The Mustard Seed is the only furniture bank for the economically distressed in Central Florida.

We are a local, independent crisis social service agency answering the Furniture and Clothing needs for more than 50,000 Central Florida friends and neighbors who have lost everything due to personal or natural tragedy since 1984, regardless of their creed or background.

Of the more than 4,000 neighbors the Mustard Seed team assisted with clothing and furniture this year, more than 1,500 were children.

The majority of the folks assisted by Mustard Seed’s Furniture and Clothing Bank are the previously homeless, veterans in transition from homelessness , the underemployed and working poor, battered women and children in retreat, individuals with mental or physical disabilities, and victims of fire, robbery, and natural disasters. By providing beds for sleeping,  tables for sharing meals,  and couches for relaxing, the Mustard Seed team helps our neighbors in need gain a sense of ownership and confidence. Folks we serve report that because of the Mustard Seed’s service, they feel better about their living environment and the environment they are providing for their children. Having a safe and comfortable home helps them to perform better at both work and school. The Mustard Seed team often works hand in hand with other social service agencies, like Coalition for the Homeless and the Homeless Services Network to name just a couple, to serve neighbors who are just exiting their care.

While we rely on our Seed Boutique Thrift Store, cutting edge recycling program, and program fees to cover 63% of our operating costs, to thrive we rely heavily upon donations from the community, in the form of good quality used furniture and household items, clothing, and monetary donations.
