We count on our generous
donors to provide our families with furniture and clothing
items, but because of our limited financial resources we do not
give any monetary assistance. However, we still need funding to
pay the operating expenses to process requests for assistance,
run the administrative office and warehouse and to provide
trucks and drivers for picking up donations.
Even with the help of our loyal volunteers (some of whom
have been regularly donating their time at the Mustard Seed for
almost 20 years!), a shoestring budget, and the tireless efforts
of founder Carol Kane, it costs an average of $507 to provide
furniture, household goods and clothing for a family.
Although the Heart of Florida United Way fund a
significant portion of our operating expense, we must
still raise over 50% of that expense ourselves. Various
fund-raisers are held each year by the Friends of the Mustard
Seed, and the end of each year brings several good sized
donations, but we still depend upon our dedicated Central
Florida neighbors who we hope will commit to support us with
financial contributions on a regular basis.
The Mustard Seed is an Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3)
publicly-funded non-profit organization. Donations to the
Mustard Seed are fully tax-deductible.
Corporate Donors
Our corporate community partners can help us by sponsoring
fund raising events. Their grants and donations of goods and
services keep our warehouses full and go towards the building
and upkeep of our facility. Please visit the Thank You page for
acknowledgements and links to their websites. |
