We are always happy to receive any furniture, home furnishings,
clothing or other household goods that you may no longer need.
The Mustard Seed helps an average of over 100 families each
month and it's always a challenge to keep enough in our
warehouse to meet their needs! |
Clothing: Clothing should be clean and useable. Remember
that others will be wearing them; give us clothes and shoes your
children have outgrown or you are tired of (or have outgrown
yourself!). We are especially in need of children's
underclothing such as underpants and socks.
Beds
for Kids! Furniture: We provide our families with a minimal
set of furniture that may include a sofa, beds, a table, chairs,
a dresser or shelves depending on family size and what we have
available; all of these items are welcome donations. Our biggest
need is usually for cribs, dressers and dining table/chair sets.
Since our focus is family furnishings, we accept non-rolling
office chairs that can be used as dining chairs and freestanding
bookshelves, but not office equipment or desks.
Remember that these families need what is appropriate for
furnishing small rental apartments. No waterbeds or building
materials are accepted.
Since many children have allergies to cats and dogs, please wash
and/or vacuum off pet hair before donating upholstered
furniture.BEDS FOR KIDS.... Most of our mattresses and
springs are donated by our community partners, the hotels and
motels of Central Florida. However, very few of those include
twin bed mattress sets. You can help by donating twin bed
mattress/spring sets… or $100 to help us purchase BEDS FOR KIDS. |
Other
Furnishing and Household Goods: There is a need for bed
linens, especially comforters and bedspreads. Table linens and
kitchen items such as pots and pans, dishes, silverware,
toasters, etc. are also often needed by fire and abuse victims.
Lamps and area rugs help warm up a home but we cannot accept
wall-to-wall carpet. |
|
LIGHT UP MY WINDOWS.... We never seem to have enough lamps… so
you can help by remembering us when you have working lamps to
donate… or you can also help by monetary donations to the LIGHT
UP MY WINDOWS program. |
Appliances: Clean, rust-free appliances in working order
are appreciated. It doesn't matter if they are older models, but
please don't donate ones that don't work as we have no one to
make mechanical or electrical repairs. Rust poses a hazard to
young children and some of our clients who are ill.
Refrigerators, ranges, washers, dryers, portable microwaves and
portable free-standing dishwashers are welcome, but since our
families generally live in rentals, no built-in microwaves or
dishwashers are accepted.
Mustard
Seed truck Pickup: We love it when you bring your donations
to us, but we can also pick up furniture and appliances in the
metro Orlando area. The high cost of gas has forced us to reduce
our pickup area so unfortunately we no longer can afford to
drive out to Winter Garden, Clermont, Kissimmee/St. Cloud,
Geneva, Chuluota, Poinciana or farther, except for large volume
pickups from hotels.
Call 407-875-2040 ext 15 to find out if we still go to
your area and to schedule a pickup. Also, note that we will only
schedule a pickup of large furniture items or appliances, but
will also take up to 3 reasonably sized boxes of household goods
and clothing at the same time.
Please do not give us unusable furniture and appliances
just to get rid of them. Our dump fees are over two thousand
dollars a year, an expense we cannot afford on our tight budget.
