“A Door to a Good Night’s Sleep”

February 9, 2012 - The Mustard Seed was so excited to participate in a tri-nonprofit event at a major pharmaceutical company’s National Meeting in 2012! Rebuilding Together Orlando and Home Builders Institute partnered up with The Mustard Seed to present “A Door to a Good Night’s Sleep”. The top sales reps at a major pharmaceutical company, over 200 of them, gathered in the parking lot at the JW Marriott Orlando and built 50 bunk beds for children to receive at The Mustard Seed. For many of these children, this would be the first bed that they ever slept in. Additionally, the reps bid on auction items at the end of the day to complete the bedroom sets, including: bedding, mattresses, lamps, nightstands and teddy bears! They raised over $6,500 for these supplies.

HBI prepared the pieces and plans to build bunk beds out of recycled wood that The Mustard Seed had in stock. Ed Green at RTO coordinated all of the efforts to get paint and supplies ready for this event. It was a great event and our own DeLacy Healey, Development Coordinator was there to see it all. “It was awe-inspiring to see so many individuals come together in such a short amount of time to build these beds for kids that have nothing. I would be hard-pressed to be that touched again.” A special thanks to the reps, Brooke Thomson, Ed Green, Brian Coller and all involved for a spectacular event!
